Sutherland pays tribute to Veterans with our Memorial located on Highway 10, east of town. This memorial offers a space to sit and reflect on those who served our country. It features two prominent statues: "No Man Left Behind," donated by David Woolston in honor of his father, Ronald, and "Freedom Fighter," purchased by American Legion Post 152.

The memorial includes flags and monuments honoring veterans, with the option to add a veteran's name for $125 through the Sutherland branch of Security State Bank. The Sutherland American Legion, which serves veterans who served during wartime, provides military services for deceased veterans, leads the Labor Day Parade, conducts flag-burning ceremonies, and offers limited medical equipment to residents in need.
